China offers "incredible potential" for Walt Disney, according to company chairman Bob Iger, speaking ahead of the opening of its Shanghai theme park today (June 16, 2016).

The US$5.5 billion venue marks the first move onto mainland Chinese soil for the Western media giant, as it aims to broaden its brand beyond already saturated markets in its home country. Iger noted that the company was already considering further growth.

"China represents incredible potential for Walt Disney in the near and long term," he told reporters yesterday.
